Our Museum is Well-Used and Well-Loved.

In 2028, the Springfield Art Museum will be 100 years old. That’s a century of serving our community with compelling, challenging, engaging, and beautiful art exhibits and programs of all kinds. In  the past decade, the Museum has evolved into a highly acclaimed,  accredited fine art institution, as well as a popular community gathering space. Thousands of children have spent countless hours creating and learning here. The time has come to expand the Art Museum to serve a modern and growing metropolitan area for its next century.

Record-breaking attendance!

2028 - The new Museum will add over 20,000 square feet of new space to the existing 50,000 square feet being re-used and re-imagined. This includes expanded classrooms, a digital beacon gallery, and the largest high-ceiling gallery in Southern Missouri.

In 2019, prior to the global pandemic, the Museum reached record breaking attendance  of 65,000 children and adults. It’s estimated that our newly expanded Springfield Art Museum will lead our region’s cultural tourism industry welcoming nearly 100,000 people a year to our city.

Outstanding exhibitions, engaging arts education, art camps, plus studio classes and activities for people of all ages will remain at the heart of the Museum’s mission.
